Jun. 23rd, 2005 @ 04:44 pm Announcement.
The following people may ignore this message:

The rest of you, come on guys, fill in a damn bracket or I’m coming round your houses! And I can assure you, by the time I get across the Atlantic ocean (swimming), I am not going to be in a jolly mood.

Brian puts a lot of work into these contests and they really need support from you people. He has even gone to the effort of making it possible to fill in a bracket in less than five minutes. Go to the damn website and fill one in! It doesn’t take long!

I don’t care what your excuse is, please, please, please DO NOT leave it until the last day. Brian really does not need that.

As I said before, he puts a lot of work into this. But if we only have six people, why bother? Even if you don’t seriously think you will win, will it hurt you to take five minutes just to fill one in? Look at the last two winners; no one thought they would win.

It will be a real disappointment if we have to cancel this contest.

Please don’t let it happen.

Fill in a bracket via the bracket maker at:
http://www.bracketmaker.com/tlist.cfm?tid=107341
Or ask Brian for a MS Word copy.

Sod the eight days left, DO IT TODAY!

Please.

FWN is finally at its new home. We now have our own domain name and are finally rid of free hosts and their annoying pop ups. No longer will stupid ads get in the way of your enjoyment of our site.

Also, 90% of the sites code has been given a overhaul, making the site more streamline and efficient while looking practically the same to you guys.

I hope you continue to enjoy using FWN.

One minor note, the news archive has not been completely transferred from yahoo. Because of this, you will need to press the back button on your browser to return to the new .com domain. Hopefully, the transfer will be completed soon.

Variant Emotion: bouncy
Hi guys.
Few things today.

First of all, I've made the decision to move Fantasy World Net from it's current home on GeoCities. While the move is in affect, I will try my best to continue to supply news updates at our current location, however, all feature updates (including VDR and the Vana’diel experience) are on hold till we are set up at our new location.

Secondly, we are now half way through the first round of the Video Game Villains Character Battle Contest. REMEMBER, you can vote on BOTH Into the life Stream and Fantasy World Forum. Your chances are greatly increased by voting on both forums.

Finally, look forward to Valentines Day. Both FWF and the website are going to have a "shocking" one day make over. I can assure you it's going to be blinding. :)

Hope you’re all doing good, and see you on the forums.

Oct. 23rd, 2004 @ 10:03 pm Errors on forums after SL upgrade.
Variant Emotion: annoyed
After the suddenlaunch upgrade, quite a few forums have suffered problems, not just ours.

Currently, on Fantasy World, I am aware of the black blob around the logo as well as the error when trying to make a new thread.

On Into the Lifestreams side of things, the main board itself has vanished.

All errors have been reported to suddenlaunch and I assure you I will moan like theres no tomorow untill they are ALL fixed.

If you find any more errors, please report them here, by PM or using Fantasy Worlds Chat Thread.

Thank you.

Oct. 23rd, 2004 @ 12:25 pm Suddenlaunch downtime.
Due to the suddenlaunch software being upgraded, both forums are currently unvalible. We hope the service will be restored in a few hours time.

Bellow is a list of improvements the new version of SL will have:
· Improved headers/footers functionality
· Ability to change all images on the board to custom images
· Set speed of news fader
· Modify avatar list
· Set custom status for users on the "edit profile" page
· Ability to choose not to mass delete from certain forums
· The main "admin" user will have the ability to choose exactly what powers other admins, gmods, and mods have.
· Calendar for posting events!
· More advanced member search (search by IP, registration date)
· Ability to lock posts when you reply
· You will be able to set the default font for the board.
· Password protected boards now have the password expire so that you have to enter it again if you close your browser
· changed the "/me" functionality to italicize instead of turning the font red.
· Improved the "print" page to be cleaner looking for printing.
·
now properly works (all UBBC tags used inside
and
will be printed out to the screen for viewing)
· Fixed smilies so that they properly work for Opera and other browsers.
· The search function is about 2-3x faster than it previously was.
· Moderators are now displayed on every page of the boards (instead of just the board index)
· IPs are now displayed in instant messages for Admins
· When you click "modify" or "quote," censored words are kept censored (so people can not find out what they were by clicking these buttons)
· "Last updated topic" now says who the last poster was as well.
· On the "Send IM" page, if you click on the subject when it says "(No Subject)" then the subject will instantly clear. If you click off when the subject is blank it changes back to "(No Subject)".
· The smiley :P can be written as :p and the smiley :-X can be written :-x now.
· Fixed bug where the "reply to topic" page sometimes showed the first 15 posts instead of the 15 posts from the page you were just on.
· View Staff Members page added - displays admins, global mods, mods
· On the "Members" page, to switch pages you now use a drop down menu
· News fader now works for boards that utilize transparent backgrounds
· The "forum jump" is now on every single page at the bottom, and is now properly aligned with the forum on pages where it was off farther to the right than it should have been.

Oct. 19th, 2004 @ 02:47 pm Ideas for the next cross-forum Character Battle contest!
Variant Emotion: calm
Ambience: Master Hand--SSBM
After the success of last summer's Final Fantasy Character Battle contest, I knew I wanted to do it again. After Sarah managed to squeak out a win in the contest, and how close it got in the last days of the tourney...I love it.

And so, to take place after Chaos' V.D.R, I have posted my ideas up for the next contest in both forums. Read it there at either feedback section and vote for the next contest!

I must say, the new look of FW is quite good. Excellent work, C&T.

Chaos has VDR up in full swing now, and it looks quite interesting. Join! Go to FW for more info.

In Into the Lifestream, I'm attempting to bring it back to life. After the ItL/FW Final Fantasy Character Battle contest, ItL kind of went dead, with me going back to college and whatnot. Now, I'm attempting to bring it back to life, and restore it to its former insanity. Any of you who have not joined ItL or FW, do so!

Since I missed the FW party, I didn't announce my ideas for the next contest after Chaos' VDR. In a couple weeks, I will be announcing them.

Moderator signups, Round 3 are taking place on my forum. Sign up for vying positions!

Other than that, nothing else new!

If you haven't received an invite yet, please inform ever me or Sputin quickly! We do not want to be handing out invites on the day. Also, once on the group, please post in the "Chat Room" message board to infrom us if you can access the MSN chat.

For more details on the FWF Birthday Party, see the stickied thread in the announcement section.

Next, after the birthday party (October 3rd), the forum will be closed for refurbishment. The whole forum is getting a face lift based on the result of the poll (results to be posted here soon). During this upgrade period, the boards will not be accessible. The plan is to have all maintenance finished by 4th October, for the forums official birthday.

If you haven't voted for what you would like the new design to be yet, you still have time. The poll is at:

Hey everyone! S. Roth here.

Earlier today, I had an idea. I have a forum. C&T has a forum. Why not have a place where we can both share news, info, upcoming events, and more without having to do it on two places? I ran it past C&T, and he likes--so, an LJ was created with this in mind. If you are a member of either forum, make this LJ part of your friends list so you can keep up with all the latest happenings on both forum. You can email myself or C&T with any suggestions you may have with this new LJ, things you'd like to see, etc, etc.

I know that my own forum has been inactive for quite a while--after the end of the FF Character Battle Contest, my life got busy, what with moving back to college and all, and much personal stuff, drama, etc. ItL will once again be running in short time, as I send out another mass recruiting email. As always, you can help with the recruiting process for either forum, and if you haven't joined either forum, click on the links and join!

More to come soon...
